Dr. John Janicek is an accomplished equine surgeon originally from Bellville, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. Following a surgical internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, he completed a three-year residency in equine surgery at the University of Missouri, where he also served as a faculty surgeon for a year. In 2007, he became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and earned a Master of Science degree while conducting research in equine orthopedic biomechanics. He has been a staff surgeon at Weems and Stephens Equine Hospital and joined Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals in Salado in 2014. In 2025, he helped establish the Salado Equine Medical Center, aiming to be a leading center for equine veterinary care through innovative and collaborative efforts. Dr. Janicek has published over 30 veterinary surgery articles, multiple veterinary surgery book chapters, and has presented numerous veterinary surgery related topics at regional, national, and international meetings.
