Salado Equine Medical Center has an opening our team for a motivated individual to help us care for horses. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Ambulatory Equine Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary team. We are a busy interactive practice with 30+ team members, and we believe in our ability to help people through the care of horses. Applicants must be self motivated, able to maintain routine physical activity, be able to build relationships with our team members and clients and have the ability to manage time. This is an ambulatory position.
Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and procedures in an ambulatory setting
Restraint and handling of horses
Conduct thorough examinations of animals
Restraint of foals
Conduct laboratory tests such as blood draws, sample collection, and basic diagnostics
Administer medications and vaccinations following veterinary protocols
Prepare animals for diagnostic imaging procedures like X-ray and assist during imaging sessions
Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection
Handle animal catheterization, animal anatomy, physiology, as needed
This is an ambulatory position. This role offers an engaging opportunity for veterinary technicians passionate about animal health to contribute significantly to mobile veterinary services. We are willing to train motivated individuals, but equine experience is a must.
Equine experience
Horse Handling: 1 year (Required)
Equine Veterinary technician experience
Laboratory experience including sample processing or diagnostic testing highly desirable
Experience with X-ray operation
Must be able to jog , bend, crouch and lift up to 50 pounds.
